Happy Chappy

Standard

I noticed yesterday that two ladies had stopped to look at the roses growing in the front yard.

I remembered that another blogger had mentioned that you can find great things to photograph in your own backyard, so to speak.  I grabbed my camera and on the way out the door was a wonderful hummingbird having the best time in the fountain.

I think the ladies were enjoying the way the Happy Chappy Roses looked with the water droplets on them.

They are at their peak, so if you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and enjoy.  Happy Spring

Spring Bling

Standard

I missed the blog last week as I had a horrible cold.  I thought it was allergies, but found at the Book Fest last weekend, that many people had the same symptoms that I had encountered the previous week.

While at the Book Fest I attended a few workshops and one was on poetry writing.  We were given a choice of starting sentences to complete in five minutes.  I’m sharing that, unedited, poem with you……

Daffodil Petals

You wake up, and you do not know

How this splendid Spring morning

Will help your garden to grow

Your eyes scan the flowers, with a sense to see

Those beautiful colors

Feeding the honey bees

Yellow’s my favorite, color of all

Those flowers they grow

Some stout and some small

But surely my favorite, flower to smell

Comes on the Daffodil petals

Distinctively shaped, like a bell

If you haven’t seen this years daffodils yet, please take note of them when they arrive.  They are long gone in California, as everything bloomed so early this year.

I can’t wait to see them again next spring.

They truly are my favorite.

Wonderful Waves

Standard

It’s hard to get away from the water when you’re on an island.  I suppose that is the very reason that so many people visit Hawaii every year.  I find that I don’t want to leave its memory behind, once I’ve returned home.

My Favorite Color Inside This Wave

My Favorite Color Lives Inside This Wave

I thought that I’d share these waves with you, as once I took the photo, I found that there were things I wasn’t even noticing while I was standing on the cliffs.  The yellows on the hill are reflected in the waves.  I only saw the blues of the ocean, separate from the yellows on the hill while I was there, but the colors are clearly merged in the photograph.

The reason I don’t want to leave the force of the waves behind could be that the blending of power and beauty are so harmonious in nature.

I hope that these photos fill you with peace, power, and the Aloha spirit, to sustain you throughout your day.
